Case Study – Labour Supply:
- Brief
During this project, our client had a number of blockages on the ash discharge line of their machinery, this issue would cause machine failure if not addressed quickly. Any downtime of the plant would be accompanied by a large cost implication. - Challenge
The team needed to be innovative to remove this blockage due to access being behind a relatively small 2m square panel. Additionally, there were time constraints due to the accumulation of material, which required periodic discharge. Ash had to be removed from the hopper section of the machine in order to gain access to the blockage. Multiple machines were also required to remove the debris. - Solution
Owing to the complexity of the blockage, FGS was able to furnish labour for an uninterrupted period of 36 hours to execute the necessary work and guarantee the continuous functioning of the plant, which provides steam and power to the largest paper machine in the UK. Following each blockage, comprehensive cleanup was carried out, involving the removal of soiled ash and clearance of the drains in the vicinity.
